BROWNS SHACK CABIN

Picture
Browns Shack is a bit Americana homestead in look, a bit tiny house living in feel, with reclaimed materials and recycled items wherever possible. This quirky, rustic cabin offers guests a tiny house experience; like camping except there's electricity and water. Our shack is nestled within a small, shared wooded area. It has an outdoor kitchenette with sink and hot plate, and an indoor, en-suite compost/waterless toilet and shower. (Hot water via undersink water heater for quick showers.) You can cook a meal over the hot plate or enjoy BBQ al fresco dining.

The Details

Browns Shack features a double bed and an en-suite shower and compost toilet. An under counter water heater provides hot water for quick showers and all taps. Kitchenette facilities include sink, hot plate, kettle, cafetiere, cutlery, crockery and utensils, also an ample 46L mini fridge. A BBQ unit and charcoal is provided for cooking outdoors if you prefer. A fire bowl is also available for striking up a cosy fire on cool evenings or cold nights when relaxing outdoors. An electric fire stove and portable infrared heaters provides indoor heat during the colder months.

Our small, fenced-in, shared woods is left quite wild as it is home to rabbits, squirrels, birds and insects. It is thought that this dipped area historically housed a marl pit, so access to this area is via a gated, ramped walkway. You can enjoy views of the field to the back of the property from our ‘tree house’/viewing platform. Use of the 'tree house'/viewing platform in the woods is shared between guests of the shepherd hut and shack cabin. We respectfully request that guests be courteous, considerate and kind to other guests who may be in residence.

Things to Note

Restricted Stuff
Please note that events, parties, outdoor entertainment and non-staying guests are not allowed on the property.

Leave Little Trace
Please note that Browns Shepherd Hut has electricity and mains water, so water is safe to drink from tap. We offer Faith in Nature eco-friendly, biodegradable shampoo and body wash in our refillable dispensers, and Delphis Eco brand products in our refillable hand soap and washing up liquid bottles. If you would like to use your own products, please bring only eco-friendly and biodegradable products.

Wi-Fi Connection
Wi-Fi is available on the property through external/outdoor access points. However, please note that signal is weak or spotty in the woods.

Shared Space, Mutual Consideration
Our enclosed wooded area houses both Browns Shepherd Hut and Browns Shack. During your stay, there may be other guests in residence, so please be considerate and respectful. To promote a serene atmosphere for all, gatherings and parties with non-guests are not permitted and quiet time is observed between 8pm and 8am.

Mindful Use of Fire pit/Fire bowl
We expect guests to be mindful of safety and health considerations when making fires. Please use the fire pit/fire bowl in a reasonable and considerate manner, being mindful of others upwind. Avoid:
  • Making large fires or filling the fire bowl to the top/overflowing
  • Incessant, prolonged or excessive burning throughout the day or night
